*Because each piece is in the curriculum to teach a specific yskill, it is important that your child not work ahead in the book as that "uses up" the song and the opportunity to learn the skill is diminished as motivation to learn the piece is significantly decreased. Practicing songs already learned with extensions (listed below) is a valuable way to further develop your child's skills.

*Variations/Extensions for practicing a piece.

 1. Right Hand plays melody, then Left Hand plays melody. Add chords.

2.Play the melody low, then high on the piano.
3. Can you sing the melody and play the chords?
4. Can you make up your own arrangement of the piece? When it is just the way you like it, play it for someone (Mom, Dad, brother, sister, friend, Grandpa, Grandma, cousins...
